Through connections within the paddling community, Packraft Hokkaido has become the official distributor of Nobdody’s in Japan. Here’s an introduction to the brand — its story, its flagship product, and what makes it distinctly worth knowing about.

The Nobdody’s Brand Story

“Nobdody cares how high you run the Little White (River).”

Don’t take yourself — or your sport — too seriously. That was the intent behind the message. And there it was, on 100 custom-printed bumper stickers ordered by a paddling friend named Leif: “Nobody” with an extra d in it.

The typo stuck. It became the name of the brand, and the philosophy embedded in the business — a reminder to keep humor and lightness at the center of everything.

Nobdody’s is designed and tested in White Salmon, Washington, a small town in the Columbia River Gorge where sun and rain meet — the same area known to whitewater kayakers worldwide for the White Salmon River and the Little White Salmon River.

Co-founders Sam and Sarina are passionate whitewater kayakers themselves. The product concept came from a problem they experienced directly: paddling the Grand Canyon, they had a skull cap for warmth but nothing to block the sun. Wearing both a skull cap and a brimmed hat, then adding a helmet on top, wasn’t an option. There had to be a better way.

The first 12 prototypes were sewn on Sarina’s home sewing machine in a spare room of their house. When design problems needed solving, friends at Immersion Research (IR) — the whitewater apparel company based just across the river in Hood River, Oregon, a name well known to Japanese paddlers — stepped in with professional equipment and industry knowledge to help bring the design to a manufacturable standard.

Packraft Hokkaido became the Japan distributor of Nobdody’s through direct connections in the paddling community. (Retailers interested in carrying the brand are welcome to reach out via DM.) The Soli — Nobdody’s Flagship Product

The Soli is Nobdody’s signature water hat, designed specifically for cold conditions.

Fits comfortably under a helmet. The neoprene construction keeps your head warm even in cold air and water — without adding uncomfortable bulk under a kayak or packraft helmet.

Flat brim shields face from sun and rain. The flat profile works equally well in bright sun and wet conditions, protecting your face without interfering with vision or helmet fit.

Stays on in strong wind. A back buckle and drawcord keep the hat in place even in gusty conditions — no chasing your hat down the river.

Chin cord included — but kayakers have a better use for it. If you don’t need the chin cord for retention, the loop doubles as a convenient spot to hang earplugs. A small but genuinely useful design detail.

Built for all cold-water sports. The Soli is designed for anyone spending time in or near cold water — packrafting, kayaking, SUP, drift fishing, wade fishing, kiteboarding, canyoneering, surfing, and beyond. If you’re wet and cold, this hat was built with you in mind.

Looks good with or without a helmet. Functionality is non-negotiable, but the Soli doesn’t sacrifice style to get there. It works as well on the water as it does off it — and that matters.

If you paddle in cool or cold conditions, the Soli was made for exactly that.

The Nobdody’s Logo

The Great Blue Heron on the Nobdody’s logo stands quietly on the riverbank — a familiar presence to anyone who paddles regularly. It’s the bird you spot while scouting a line or drifting a calm stretch, calm and watchful, like a relative keeping an eye on things.

The heron represents Nobdody’s itself: the all-knowing presence that cares about you, even when nobody else does.

(There’s something genuinely reassuring about spotting a heron or egret standing still on the bank mid-river trip. If you paddle rivers, you know exactly what that feels like.)
