Three things matter in a throw bag.

It needs to reach the swimmer. It needs to repack fast. It needs to be seen.

The River Station Gear Neon Magic RSG Standard Throw Bag delivers all three — in a medium-sized, 60-foot package with a neon color scheme that’s hard to miss on any river.

River Station Gear

River Station Gear (RSG) is a whitewater rescue gear brand based in Cañon City, Colorado — on the Arkansas River. The brand’s concept: stand out. Every product is designed to be visible, functional, and built by people who actually paddle. RSG has pushed innovation in both throw bag systems and dry bags, and now operates a brick-and-mortar store in Cañon City.

Packraft Hokkaido became RSG’s authorized dealer in Japan through connections in the paddling community.

Neon Magic RSG Standard Throw Bag 60′

“This baby is bright and in flight!” — RSG’s own description. Accurate.

A medium-sized standard throw bag with 60 feet (approx. 18.2m) of floating rope. Available in pink or yellow rope color.

Key Features

Neon color design RSG’s Neon Magic colorway is built around the brand’s core concept: be visible. On a fast-moving river, a brightly colored rope is easier for the swimmer to track as it comes toward them. Before you throw, always signal with a whistle and voice — the color helps, but communication comes first.

Wide mouth for fast repacking The large-diameter opening reduces resistance when stuffing the rope back in after a throw. In a rescue situation, the time between throws matters — a bag that’s easy to repack is a bag you can use again quickly.

High-quality floating rope 60 feet (approx. 18.2m) of double-braid floating line. Average breaking strength: 1,500 lbs (approx. 680kg). The floating construction keeps the rope on the surface in current — easier to manage for both thrower and swimmer.

Compact packed size Packed dimensions: approx. 24 × 10 × φ10cm. Fits in a PFD pocket or pack side pocket.

Note: This is not a waist-style throw bag.

Safety Notes

Practice throwing regularly so you can deploy accurately when it counts.

  • A rescue rope trailing in the water while attached to your body is a serious entrapment hazard. Stay alert.
  • Knots in the rope can significantly reduce breaking strength. Avoid them.
  • Inspect your gear frequently. Replace worn or damaged equipment.
  • Whitewater is inherently hazardous. Use this equipment as part of a complete safety approach, not as a substitute for skill and judgment.
