A waist throw bag needs to do two things well.
Deploy the moment you need it. Repack quickly so you’re ready again.
The River Station Gear GuideLaunch is RSG’s latest waist throw bag — redesigned around a simpler mechanism that makes both of these faster. Less complexity, fewer steps, more reliability when it counts.
River Station Gear
River Station Gear (RSG) is a whitewater rescue gear brand based in Cañon City, Colorado — on the Arkansas River. Every product is tested and manufactured in Colorado by whitewater enthusiasts. RSG has driven innovation in both waist throw bag systems and dry bags, and operates a retail store in Cañon City.
Packraft Hokkaido became RSG’s authorized dealer in Japan through connections in the paddling community.
GuideLaunch Waist Throw Bag 60′
The GuideLaunch is RSG’s current-generation waist throw bag — redesigned for simplicity and effectiveness without sacrificing the style the brand is known for.
Available in three housing colorways: Mint/Orange/Gold, Jet Black, and limited-edition Forest/Lavender. Rope color: pink or yellow.
Key Features
Deployment: pull the handle, throw
To deploy, release the buckle and pull the rope bag out of the housing using the oversized handle. That’s it. In a swim situation where seconds matter, a single pulling motion is the right answer. No zippers, no fumbling — just pull and throw.
Repacking: slide back in and buckle
After a throw, slide the rope bag back into the housing and secure the buckle. It locks in place. Fast repack means you’re ready for the next throw sooner.
New rope retention cover
A new cover on the buckle side prevents the rope from working loose during paddling. An improvement to an already solid system — the rope stays contained until you need it.
Quick-release belt
If you ever need to ditch the system entirely — rope snagged, unexpected entanglement — the quick-release belt lets you shed the whole setup from your waist immediately. This is a non-negotiable safety feature on any waist throw bag. The GuideLaunch has it.
High-quality floating rope
60 feet (approx. 18m) of double-braid floating rescue rope. Breaking strength: 1,500 lbs (approx. 680kg). Long enough for most river rescue situations, with enough mass to carry accurately at distance.

Safety Notes
Practice deploying and throwing regularly — accuracy under pressure requires repetition.
- A rescue rope trailing in the water while attached to your body is a serious entrapment hazard. Stay aware.
- Knots reduce breaking strength significantly. Avoid them.
- Inspect your equipment frequently. Replace worn or damaged gear.
- Whitewater is inherently hazardous. Use this equipment as part of a complete safety approach.
Who It’s Right For
