About Tyvek® Sheeting Tape
Tyvek Sheeting Tape is now available through the Packraft Hokkaido web shop — a repair material that was previously very difficult to source in Japan.

At the time of writing, this is the most effective tape available for packraft field repair.
Think of Tyvek Sheeting Tape as the packraft equivalent of duct tape for field repairs. It was originally developed to seal Tyvek house wrap in construction — but the originator brand of packrafts discovered almost by accident that it bonds exceptionally well to packraft fabric, and it has since become the go-to field repair tape in the packraft community worldwide.

With just 4.5 meters of Tyvek Sheeting Tape, you can repair anything from a pinhole leak to a large tear caused by a bear — patch it up, re-inflate, and make it home safely.
The tape has no stretch, which is exactly why its acrylic adhesive bonds so strongly to packraft fabric. In practice, it almost grips too well. The longer the strip you apply, the stronger the hold.
The only parts of a packraft that Tyvek Sheeting Tape cannot repair effectively are the floor (due to its textured surface), the seat (same reason — small surface irregularities prevent full adhesion), and the valve. For all smooth outer tube surfaces, it works extremely well.
And its usefulness extends beyond packrafts — any smooth-surface gear you carry on a trip (dry bags, stuff sacks, tent fabric) can be patched with it just as effectively. The inverse is also true: it is not suited for textured or uneven surfaces.

How to Carry It in the Field
Keep a small roll in a waterproof pouch such as a LOKSAK bag, or store it inside an Alpacka Raft Pack-A-Pump for space efficiency. For quick access on the trail or river, wrapping it around a paddle shaft, trekking pole, or water bottle works perfectly — it unspools easily when you need it.

Important note: Tyvek Sheeting Tape holds well even over pinhole repairs and can keep you paddling for the rest of a trip. However, once you’re back home, remove the tape and make a permanent repair using Aquaseal+FD or an equivalent adhesive. Tyvek Sheeting Tape is a field fix — not a permanent solution.
