A tie-down strap is one of those pieces of kit you reach for constantly — strapping a packraft to a bike, securing gear to a roof rack, lashing wet equipment to the outside of a pack. If you’re using one regularly, it’s worth thinking about weight.
The AlpackaRaft Cam Strap is a 1-inch nylon webbing strap with a CNC-machined billet aluminum cam buckle. Length: approx. 117cm. Weight: 37g. Packed size: approx. 5cm. Made in the USA.

Why 37g
Standard cam buckles are plastic. This one is CNC-machined billet aluminum — metal, shaped precisely. The pin is titanium. The spring is corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
The weight is kept down through CNC machining (removing material precisely where it isn’t needed) and careful material selection. The result is a buckle that won’t corrode, won’t break under normal use, and adds almost nothing to pack weight — while outlasting plastic alternatives.
What It’s Used For

- Roof rack / car top: Securing gear to a roof rack for transport
- External pack attachment: Lashing a packraft or wet gear to the outside of a backpack on approach
- Portaging: Bundling and securing gear while carrying the boat overland
