A self-bailing floor drains water automatically. That’s the point — but it also means your feet stay in contact with cold water unless something fills in the front of the cockpit.
The AlpackaRaft Self-Bailing Foot Brace is the forward component of the two-piece self-bailing floor system. It attaches to the strap plate on the seat sleeve and fills the front section of the cockpit floor — keeping feet out of the water, adding warmth, and increasing buoyancy.

How This Differs from the Whitewater Foot Brace
Both products are called “foot brace,” but they serve different purposes.

What It Does
Keeps feet out of the water The self-bailing floor mesh drains efficiently — but it also allows water to pool at foot level. The foot brace fills the front section of the floor, significantly reducing direct foot contact with water.
Cold weather paddling benefit Wet feet in cold water drain body heat faster than almost anything else. Reducing that exposure through the foot brace is a meaningful comfort and safety factor in cool-season paddling.
Increases buoyancy The inflated foot brace adds air volume to the bow section of the cockpit, improving overall buoyancy.

How It Installs
The Self-Bailing Foot Brace is the forward piece of a two-part floor system. The main seat (3/4″ length) inserts into the seat sleeve and attaches to the strap plate. No adhesives or permanent modifications required.
