AlpackaRaft’s self-bailer and whitewater deck models use a two-piece floor system that differs from standard open deck packrafts.
The system consists of a seat (rear component) and a foot brace (front component) that together cover the full cockpit floor. If either component is damaged, lost, or needs to be added, you need the right part for your specific model.
This guide covers how the system works and which components to order.
How the Two-Piece Floor System Works
A self-bailing floor drains water automatically through mesh. But it also means the floor is in contact with cold water — and so are your feet, unless the floor system is in place.
The inflatable seat and foot brace fill the cockpit with air volume, creating three benefits:
- Feet and seat stay out of the water
- Buoyancy increases
- Cold insulation improves — particularly significant in cold-water paddling
Rear (seat) + front (foot brace) = full cockpit coverage.
Component 1: 3/4 Length Seat (rear)
The seat is the rear component. It inserts into the seat sleeve to create the paddler’s seating surface and fill the back half of the cockpit floor.
Size Compatibility
Check your boat’s size before ordering.
| Size | Compatible models |
|---|---|
| Small | Gnarwhal Small, Wolverine Small (all years) |
| Medium | Gnarwhal Medium, Wolverine Medium, Classic Small |
| Large | Gnarwhal Large, Wolverine Large, Classic Medium |
| XL | Gnarwhal XL, Wolverine XL, Classic L |
| XXL | Mule, Gnarmule |
※ Valkyrie and Mage use the Whitewater Race Seat, not this component — see below.
Component 2: Self-Bailing Foot Brace (front)
The foot brace is the front component. It attaches to the strap plate on the seat sleeve and fills the forward section of the cockpit floor.

Component 3: Whitewater Race Seat (Valkyrie and Mage only)

Topping Up Air After Tempering
Both the seat and foot brace are inflatable. Cold water causes the air inside to contract after tempering. The Pack-A-Pump Adapter lets you top up both components from the seat without stepping out of the boat.
