Ordering the wrong seat is one of the most common spare parts mistakes. Check this guide before purchasing — or get in touch and we’ll confirm the right seat for your boat.
First: Race-In vs Floor Toggle — Two Attachment Systems
AlpackaRaft seats use one of two attachment methods.
Race-in style: Loops on the sides of the seat thread through race tabs (lace guides) on the inner hull wall.
Floor toggle style: A D-ring on the front of the seat connects to a toggle loop on the boat floor.
Important: A race-in seat is compatible with toggle-style boats, but a floor toggle seat is not compatible with race-in-style boats.

Valkyrie and Mage
→ Whitewater Race Seat (race-in style)
Attaches via the seat’s side loops to the race tabs on the inner hull wall.
Caribou, Mule, Classic / Alpaca Series, Expedition
→ Standard Toggle Seat (floor toggle style)
The D-ring on the front of the seat connects to the toggle loop on the boat floor. Can also be used in combination with the AlpackaRaft Lap Bag for additional securing.
Compatible years:
- Caribou: all years
- Mule: 2017 onward
- Classic / Alpaca series: 2017–2024
- Expedition: 2019–2024
Race-in seat required for:
- Alpaca, Yak, Llama, Fjord Explorer: 2016 and earlier
- Expedition: 2025 onward

Scout, Ghost, Refuge (2025 and earlier)
→ Scout / Refuge / Ghost Seat (floor toggle style)
The D-ring on the front of the seat connects to the floor toggle loop. Models without a toggle loop (Ghost) can use the seat without the toggle, but if there’s a risk of the seat washing away in a swim, add a DIY Extra Tie-Down Toggle Loop to the floor.
Compatible models and years:
- Scout: all years (2019 onward: floor toggle only)
- Ghost: all years (no floor toggle)
- Refuge: 2025 and earlier
- Scout / Refuge / Ghost Seat (toggle style) — Packraft Hokkaido Web Shop
Refuge (2025 onward)
→ Scout / Refuge / Ghost Seat (race-in style)
Attaches via race tabs on the inner hull wall. Also compatible with toggle-style attachment points.
Ranger (all years)
→ Ranger Seat (race-in style)
Attaches via the seat’s side loops to the race tabs on the inner hull wall. Compatible with all Ranger production years.
