Long paddling days take a toll on the lower back. AlpackaRaft offers two back support accessories to address this: the Backband and the Inflatable Backrest. Both attach to the stern of the boat, but they work differently — and both require checking your boat’s attachment configuration before ordering.

Backband
AlpackaRaft’s custom foam backband. Non-mesh construction dries faster than alternatives. Provides firm back support for both flatwater touring and whitewater paddling.
Before Ordering: Two Attachment Variants
The backband comes in two versions depending on your boat’s stern attachment points. Both versions require two D-rings at the hip position.
① Single strap plate mounting type For boats with two single strap plates installed at the stern.
② Ladder strap plate mounting type For boats with one vertical ladder strap plate at the center stern.

Inflatable Backrest
A lumbar support pillow that attaches to two stern strap plates via the included webbing straps. Comes standard on many AlpackaRaft models — this listing is the replacement part.
Air volume is adjustable, so you can dial in the firmness to suit your preference. The Pack-A-Pump Adapter allows you to top it up from the seat without stepping out after tempering.

Which One to Choose
Backband is the better choice if:

Topping Up Air
The Inflatable Backrest is an air-inflated component. Cold water causes air to contract after tempering. The Pack-A-Pump Adapter lets you top it up from the seat without stepping out.
