Alpacka Raft announced the results of its 2025 “Dogs of Packrafting” photo contest on its official blog. Entries hit a record high, with a large number of participants involved through voting and submissions.
This isn’t a gear review or a trip report, and the fact that lighthearted content like this can stand on its own says something about how deep the American packrafting community runs. Packrafting with your dog, as one way to enjoy the sport among others, struck me as simply a good thing to have as an option.
The Winners
Grand prize went to “Odie,” submitted by Myra Benitez. Second place was “Poppy,” submitted by Alice Bailey, catching early-summer sun on the Chena River. Third place, “Snickers,” shows a dog napping in the boat during an overnight trip to Ruby Horsethief.
Standout Entries
Claire Todd’s entry captured a seal startled into fleeing by a small dog named Ruby. Another submission featured a dog named Mozart watching an air show. The next contest is planned for next summer.
