The Caribou is AlpackaRaft’s most versatile model, and it already comes in a wide range of standard configurations. Custom Lab takes it further — letting you choose your own combination of deck, floor, cargo fly, rigging, fabric, and colors, then have it handmade from raw material in Mancos, Colorado.
What Custom Lab Makes Possible (Caribou Examples)

Attach the completed worksheet and send via the shop chat (desktop: message icon at bottom right; mobile: “Ask the shop”). We’ll send you a quote.
Step 4 — Approve and pay via your dedicated page
Step 5 — Production and shipping
Production begins after payment. Custom Lab boats are cut from raw fabric in small quantities and take longer than standard models (standard: approx. 1.5 months). We’ll notify you when a ship date is confirmed.

Deck and Floor Configuration
Open (+¥0) No deck, no self-bail floor. Lightest and most economical build.
Self-Bailing Floor (+¥26,300) Drain holes at the floor edge with a thick seat system to keep the paddler above water level. Best for warm water, fishing, and dog paddling.
WW Deck (+¥35,000) Fixed spray dock coaming with integrated PEX rim pole. Compatible with all AlpackaRaft spray skirts (sold separately). Maximum dryness and warmth.

Backband (+¥17,500) Two single D-rings at the rear interior sides with a custom foam backband.
LW Handles (+¥5,300) Two lightweight carrying handles on interior panels C and H. Makes solo portaging significantly easier.
Backband + LW Handles (+¥22,800)
Backband + 3-Point Thigh Straps + Foot Brace (+¥43,800) Offset D-rings at the rear interior sides, ankle plate at the front interior, 3-position ladder plate on the tube top. Includes backband and 3-point thigh straps. Open and removable deck builds include WW foot brace; self-bail builds include self-bail foot brace.
