Custom Lab Gnarwhal offers something the standard lineup doesn’t.
Every size is available in both Large Volume and Medium Volume.
Standard Gnarwhal models come with Large Volume in Large and XL sizes, and Medium Volume in Small and Medium sizes. With Custom Lab, you can order a Small in Large Volume, or a Large in Medium Volume — whatever best fits your body, weight, and skill level.

Size and Volume — How to Choose
Size
Based on your height. Refer to the size chart on the standard model page:

Volume
Large Volume (based on the 2017–2024 Gnarwhal) Maximum load capacity with greater stability and on-water forgiveness. Recommended for heavier paddlers or those carrying heavy loads on multi-day expeditions.
Medium Volume (based on the 2019–2024 Wolverine) More responsive edging and sharper handling than Large Volume. Well-suited to lighter or shorter paddlers, and experienced paddlers who prioritize maneuverability.

Custom Options
Deck and Floor Configuration
SB Floor (Self-Bailing Floor) (+¥0) Drain holes at the floor edge with a thick seat system. Colder than the WW deck, but easier self-rescue after a flip and more stable overall. Recommended for beginner to intermediate whitewater paddlers.
WW Deck (+¥35,000) Fixed spray dock coaming with integrated PEX rim pole. Maximum dryness and thermal retention. Best for paddlers with lower flip frequency and cold-weather use. Spray skirt sold separately.

Rigging and Add-Ons
3-Point Thigh Straps + Foot Brace (+¥0) Offset D-rings at the rear interior sides, ankle plate at the front interior, 3-position ladder plate on the tube top. Includes backband, 3-point thigh straps, and WW foot brace. ※ Not compatible with 4-point thigh straps.
4-Point Thigh Straps + Foot Brace (+¥8,800) Offset D-rings at the rear interior sides, ankle plate at the front interior, 12-position adjustable ladder plate on the tube top. Includes backband, 4-point thigh straps, and WW foot brace. Also compatible with separately sold 3-point thigh straps.
Bike Tiedowns (+¥3,500) Two strap plates at the bow. Allows securing a bike’s top tube with Voile straps or Titan straps. A dedicated option for bikerafting.
