Denver-based blog Understaffed Packraft published a DIY guide to building your own internal storage bags for packrafting, for about $20. Nicknamed “Twinkies,” the bags weigh 8 ounces a pair.

What the Bags Are For
The goal is to keep gear secured inside the boat, stop it from shifting around, protect the boat’s interior, and add an extra layer of waterproofing. For the build itself, the post points to a resource published by Landon Sawaya.
A Note on Use
The post is explicit that these bags don’t count as the “secondary chambers” required under certain permits. They’re meant for calm rivers, Class III and under.
